HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Welcome to Kagumo ccm primays school .This is a public catholic sponsored school. It is located near Kagumo Town and borders Kagumo Girls Secondary. It has a population of 300 pupils from ECD,Special Unit and the primary school. The staff establishment from ECD to primary is 15 teachers .The head teacher is Mr John Wachira Munene.
The School was started in the early 1940s by a person named Mikairi Gatuba at a place called Kangware near Mununga tea factory during the colonial rule.
In 1952 during the MAUMAU rebellion people were moved to one place (village) Kagumo and the school was moved to the same place .After the MAUMAU uprising the school was named Kagumo and was re-located to its present position .During that time it was Primary and intermediate and each section had its own head teacher .Later the intermediate was merged to one primary school.
The primary school grew and was one of the biggest primary schools in this area and used to have more than one thousand two hundred pupils. The community decided to start a girl’s secondary school in the early 1980s and Kagumo Girls Secondary School was started in 1984.
Part of the school land was given to the Secondary school.
Provide conducive learning environment for success
To provide quality teaching and training which will enable all our leaners to succeed in life
- Honesty and co-operation
The church gives a lot of support to the school through spiritual matters. We have mass twice a month and the priest in charge of schools Fr. John Kariuki is very committed to that. We have pastoral programmes every Wednesday though we have a challenge of text books.
The school board of management (BOM) is quite strong lead by an able chairperson Mrs. Purity Nyawira Wachira. They have come out to support the H/teacher, parents, teachers and pupils to ensure the good performance achieved last year is improved. There is a lot of teamwork and co-operation amongst the BOM members and this is a clear indication that the school is going to improve on its good performance.
The school has been performing poorly over the years mainly due to most of the challenges mentioned. KCPE 2016 was the best performance for over fifteen years back. The school attained a men score of 258.70 up from 244.71.and was ranked position 6 out of 11 public schools in the zone. Our vision this year is to be among the top three schools in the zone in k.c.p.e 2017. God bless Kagumo CCM primary school.
